Day Trip – Canoe or Kayak with Mi’Kmaq First Nation
Experience Mi'Kmaq First Nation with Terry
Canoe or Kayak to the Island for a Hike and a Meal.
The Mi'kmaq are a First Nations people of the Northeastern Woodlands, indigenous to the areas of Canada's Atlantic Provinces, primarily Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. There are fewer than 80,000 Mi'kmaq in the region and less than 10,000 who speak the native Mi'kmaq language.
The Mi'kmaq nation signed a series of treaties with the British Crown throughout the eighteenth century. The Miꞌkmaq maintain that they did not cede or give up their land title or other rights. The 1999 Supreme Court of Canada upheld the 1752 Peace and Friendship Treaty "which promised Indigenous Peoples the right to hunt and fish their lands and establish trade."
Let Terry, teach you about the Mi'kmaq tribe history and customs. On your arrival, Terry will show you some videos to educate you about the history of the MicMaq people. All you can consume cannabis at your disposal at his Dispensary and throughout the videos.
When you are ready, Terry will take you on a guided trip to an island in kayaks or canoes. On route, Terry will tell you stories of the history of his tribe as well as folklore that has been passed down for generations. Enjoy Terry’s entertainment; he will sing traditional songs which he will teach you and you are welcome to sing along with him.
At the island you will see a unique oasis for Eagles and other wildlife and ocean mammals along with spectacular views of Cape Breton Island. Hike around the island where you will see mussels, oysters, and/or lobsters. You can fish to catch your lunch (or Terry will take care of this if you don’t want to) and Terry will cook your meal over the open flame with veggies, fruits, and refreshments including all you can consume cannabis.
Terry is the nicest guy and he’s there if you would like a friend, a teacher, an entertainer, a cook, a guide, or a protector. Please be prepared toilets are in the form of outhouses and at the island there are none. The total tour is 4 – 6 hours.
Tips in cash are welcome.
